Long day. Dylan left with Ryan this morning and spent part of the day with him planting beans. Dylan of course was thrilled. I spent the morning getting a few things done around here. And made lunch for Ryan's dad who was down here working ground. Sometime around 1 or so mamaw brought Dylan back. He was not happy because he knew that he was going to have to go take a nap. I had to carry him back to his room, while he was crying because he wanted to go back out in the tractor. Ryan and his dad are working on the fields around the house here. If everything goes right, they will be done by the end of the week for sure. So while mamaw was here I went outside and mowed the yard in the heat. Of course it got my allergies all fired up. That took a while though. Then got cleaned up. Dylan woke up from his nap and we took the 4-wheeler back to give the guys their dinners. And again, being out in the dust and weeds, got my allergies fired up again. Here's a picture of Dylan just hanging out in the tractor.

Ethan has been off today. He has been taking 15-20 minute cat naps all stinkin day. He normally naps so well. Not sure whats up with him today.
Tomorrow morning hopefully I can get to the grocery store. Somehow we are running out of stuff! Because of the holiday Dylan doesn't have school.
Speaking of the holiday I'd like to say, that I am thankful for the soldiers who have served our country, as well as the ones who are serving now.

We got part of our garden planted yesterday. It was so stinkin hot out though! So far we have 6 rows of sweet corn, some green beans, peas, carrots, and lettuce. We still have potatoes to plant, because they weren't quite ready yet. And we will do some more sweet corn for a later harvest. It may be late to plant some of those things, but its been so wet we haven't been able too. Since we already had the seeds, we thought we'd give it a shot. If it grows, great, if not, oh well. I'd like to plant more green beans and peas when we get a chance.
Dylan rode his power wheel and played on his play set while we were planting and Ethan sat happily in his carrier watching mommy and daddy. After we came inside, it rained, again.
I don't know how it happened, but so far it has. Both boys nap at the same time in the afternoon! Its such a welcomed relief for me. Ethan seems to have himself in a routine finally. Every now and then he will throw a wrench into it, but for the most part he takes about an hour and a half nap in the morning, somewhere around 9 or 10, then he will nap again around 1 or shortly after. Usually for about 2 hours. After that, he takes a couple of 15 minute catnaps in the evening. It's nice that he has fallen into a routine. I like routine.

Nothing new. My birthday was nice. Went out to dinner, which of course is always welcomed. Its a nice break from cooking and having to do the dishes after. Ryan got me an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. The best ice cream cake ever!!! Others try to impersonate a DQ ice cream cake, but they fail. Dairy Queen rules!
I thought that I would share some pictures of the boys. The first few are from today, and the rest from a few days ago I think.

Ok weekend. I guess. Friday we got some nasty storms in the area. Lightning struck somewhere close by and zapped parts of the house. We have electric everywhere but it must have came through the phone line. Our internet is spotty right now. Oh well at least we didnt lose any pricey electronics.
When I picked Dylan up from school he had diffent clothes on. From all of the weekends rain, a sandbox had a bunch of water in it. Well Dylan decided to play in it, and they said he had himself soaked from the neck to the waist. And his shoes were soaked, so they did change him. So I get him home, and tell him to take off the shoes and his dirty back up clothes. He starts throwing a fit. I start a load of laundry to wash the wet clothes, and he is in his room crying, loudly, Ethan who is still in his carrier in the living room starts crying. So on either side of the house that's all I hear is crying. I thought about climbing in the washer for some quiet time, but then again, its kind of small in there.
Oh well...Both boys napped. And now, well duty is calling, rather crying....Ethan is hungry.

I didn't feel like saying much yesterday. I was a little tired. I have been putting Ethan to nap in his crib for his morning nap. It hasn't been too consistent, because we haven't been home in the mornings a lot lately. But when I do, he sleeps usually for at least 45 minutes which is a big help, because then he isn't grumpy from the lack of sleep. For his afternoon nap, I usually keep him out with me, because Dylan is napping in his room, so it's quiet. I think the crib is more of a step for me than it is for Ethan. I like having him close to me. I feel that way, I have more control over the situation...I don't' know....its just me. Ethan is still in a pack and play in our room at night. I'm still waiting for him to be consistent at sleeping well before I move him. There are nights where I get up and give him a paci, to keep him from fussing himself totally awake. I certainly don't like the idea of walking the stairs many times a night for just a paci!
I moved another bigger toy into Dylan's room. He goes in there periodically through the day to play. He does well. He really enjoys playing in his room. We put a rug on part of the floor, so he will be a bit more comfortable playing on the floor. I'm proud of him for playing in there so well. When we moved him in there we didn't know what to expect, so I'm glad it's going so well. It's nice that he can have his own space that is just his.
Ethan changes so much in just a few short days. He started rolling a few weeks ago. Now he is a rolling fool. Every time he gets put down, he rolls. He rolls onto his tummy and raises himself on his forearms to look around. He is staying on his arms for longer and longer periods of time. He also manages to get his knees under himself and pushes his butt up. If he could get up on his hands, he'd be gone.
Dylan is getting better and better about telling me things that have happened in the past. His details are getting better. I still have to draw it out of him at times, but he is responding better. As long as you ask the question in the right way, he will give you the type of answer you were looking for. If I don't get the question right the first time, I will ask it again in a different way. I know sometimes that I am not so good at asking it so he can understand, so its a learning process for me as well.
When I sit and watch Dylan I find myself wondering what Ethan will turn into. When Dylan was a baby, I had no idea what to expect from a 3 year old. He is definitely interesting. The things he says and conversations we have at times can have me wondering how he comes up with the things he says. A 3 year old can be the funniest thing at one moment and the most frustrating the next moment.

Ethan had his 4 month check up today. It went well. He is 14.5 pounds, which puts him in the 50th percentile, and he is 26 inches long, which puts him in the 85th percentile. It was a quick visit, because he is doing well.
Dylan went with Ryan this morning while I took Ethan. When I went to pick him up, he threw a fit because he wanted to stay with daddy. He cried the whole way home.

First, I don't know if I mentioned it or not, so I'm doing it now. Ethan is rolling over. He has been for about a week maybe a little more. Mainly it is from back to belly, but he can, if he really tries go from belly to back. But now when you lay him on the floor, he almost automatically rolls over. Unfortunately at that point, once he is on his belly he becomes very unhappy. Also he can get himself out of the bumbo seat. He can get one leg out so far and then use that leg to push himself right out. So we aren't using it much anymore. Maybe we will revisit the bumbo a little later.
We stayed busy this weekend. Dylan stayed with my mom on Saturday. I took him over after lunch. Since I was there I stayed a while of course to talk, and so mom could see Ethan. Mom had Ethan, and Dylan was standing by me. Well he turned to me and told me that I needed to go home now. I think he was a bit jealous that his Mamaw had Ethan. He gets possessive with his Grandparents. Anyway, he enjoyed himself. Mom said he was good. But I don't think she would tell me if he wasn't. Ryan and I went out to dinner that night. It was nice. Ryan's parents watched Ethan for a couple of hours. I went back and picked Dylan up on Sunday morning. Then we had to go to a birthday party for a little girl. It was a bit of a drive so we were gone for most of the day. Dylan was worn out, and so were we. Before we left to go to the party, I told him to use the potty. But he said that he didn't have to. Well, we got to the end of the road and he said he had to pee. Ugh. So Ryan stopped somewhere for him to pee. Silly boy. I'm sure that is just the first of many of those "I didn't have to go then" moments.
It rained almost all night I think. It finally stopped at around 9 this morning. It is cold and wet. It would be a good day to just stay in the pajamas and sleep. But I took Dylan to school and got groceries. The only thing we have planned for the week is Ethan's 4 month checkup on Wednesday. We didn't get the garden planted because it was still so wet. Oh well.
